Airline is finally all set to fly from Lagos to London on 16th of May. Air Nigeria has scheduled the direct flight to London Gatwick from Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. Flight is offered on promotional fares for a round trip. South Africa is also included in route map and Airline has scheduled a flight to Johannesburg from Lagos on 17th of May. For both routes airline is using modern fleet containing Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

sultan-11 It was announced yesterday that Air Nigeria will start operating flights for London and Johannesburg route from 16th May 2012. Airline’s CE, Mr. Kinfe Kahssaye, disclosed at the briefing said that latest fleet will be used for both destinations, having good first class and economy class facalities, and Air Nigeria will fly three days in the week for these destinations, which will make fares competitive for Nigerians. He said: “After the successful turn-around of the airline over the last two years, the airline is now well positioned to compete favorably on the international market. There is a huge market on the London route, we have done a research on that route and found that the market is good.
He also said that the starting flights for these destinations is a prove of Air Nigeria is fulfilling it’s promises of perfect service and excellence. He also guranteed the good entertainment during the flight, the aircraft deployed for the operations were equipped with state-of-the-art IPADs, and Nigerian food will be also be served for passengers who like to have them. Air Nigeria now becomes the second Nigerian airline, after Arik Air, to take advantage of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement, BASAs.
Chief Executive Officer, Appointment of Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun was also announced by Kahssaye , former Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, as Air Nigeria’s Executive Director of International Operations, saying that the airline is looking forward to use Aisuebeogun’s wealth of experience for its international operations.

Air Nigeria is to spend $280 million on the acquisition of four aircraft according to their expansion plans. And it will once again start operating its scheduled flights to London Heathrow, Johannesburg and new routes to Europe, America and other African countries this year.
Managing Director of Air Nigeria, Kinfe Kahssaye said that the each aircraft will cost $70 million. And according to Managing Director of Air Nigeria, the airline hopes to introduce two Airbus A330-200 and two Boeing B737 to raise its fleet to 15 from 11 aircraft. And Air Nigeria had re-activate the order for 8 Embraer E-Jets aircraft ordered from a Brazilian aerospace conglomerate that produces commercial, military, and executive aircraft and provides aeronautical services.
These aircraft will be fan out in some of its long haul routes, such as the United Kingdom, Johannesburg, Dubai, Middle East, West and Central African countries, which it hopes to begin in the first quarter of this year while some of the routes would be completed in the next three to five years.
Managing Director of Air Nigeria, Kinfe Kahssaye said that the local routes, such as Benin, Calabar and Uyo will be introduced in its domestic operations and Embraer E-Jets aircraft will be used for domestic routes.
Within the year under review, we entered into strategic alliance-code share with Delta Airlines and several interline agreements were signed. Before the turn-around, the airline had only five aircraft in its fleet, but today, we can conveniently boast of 11 aircraft in our fleet.

The Air Nigeria’s Managing Director Kinfe Kahssaye said that the airline in 2011 successfully operated safely and for the third consecutive time, it passed the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) programme, being the first airline in West Africa to achieve this feat.IOSA is the IATA Operational safety audit programme and the internationally accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of airlines. The audit employs internationally recognized quality audit principles that are in a standardized and consistent manner worldwide.
The management would embark on the construction of maintenance hangar from 2013, but declined to comment on where the hangar would be sited by the management.

The Nigerian flag carrier, Air Nigeria said that it would once again operate schedule flights to rested routes on Lagos-London and Lagos-Johannesburg, in the first half of this year. The International Aviation Transport Association (IATA) has registered Air Nigeria for a third time as part of its Operational Safety Audit Programme (IOSA), following the successful completion of intensive Safety Audit.
Air Nigeria is the first and only West African airline that has consistently maintained its listing on the IOSA registry in three consecutive audits since 2007.
The Air Nigeria’s Managing Director Kinfe Kashayye while speaking on the airline’s projects for 2012 and 2013 said that the preparations are also in top gear for the construction of a maintenance hangar in the country.
He disclosed that the airline will also commence operations on six new destinations on the region to Kinshasa, Freetown, Ouagadougou, Bamako, Conakry and Malabo and to Benin, Calabar and Uyo on the domestic scene.

Air Nigeria News: Delta Airlines announced that they will launch non-stop service between Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) and Accra’s Kokota International Airport (KIA), Ghana. Delta Airlines partnered with Air Nigeria to this non-stop services to it’s valued customers. Delta Airline’s this new service will be effective from December 1, 2011 and will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays as well as Thursdays. Boeing 767-300 aircraft will be used in this service which is equipped with 36 Business Elite seats and have 29 seats in Economy Comfort and 143 seats in Economy Class.
On the announced of this new service by Delta Airlines with the collaboration of Air Nigeria, Bobby Bryan, The Delta’s Sales Manager for West and East Africa said that Delta is delighted to offer a new service for our customers between Nigeria as well as Ghana, complementing our existing service to the United States. He also said, with the on going support of our partner Air Nigeria, this new service will provide more travel choices for our customers as well as will facilitate business and commerce between both countries. On the other side, Mr Olumide Odebyi, Air Nigeria’s acting Director of commercial said that, Air Nigeria is fully commited towards providing convenient travel options to increase trade relations in the sub-region, especially on the Abuja and Accra route and beyond to further improve the service options available to the travelling public across Nigeria. Air Nigeria News: The Air Nigeria recently got involved in the strike by its engineers. As a result, in the beginning of this week flight operations of the carrier were interrupted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos. The strike of engineers was over the alleged sack of their Head of Maintenance. Mr Sam Ogbogoro, who is the Media Relation Manager of Air Nigeria, said efforts were being made to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Chief Jimoh Ibrahim, the Chairman of Air Nigeria was abroad also told that the matter was being resolved. The reason of the dispute was the result of change in airline’s management Maintenance Department, which did not result in any loss of jobs. The Nigerian Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers ( NAAPE ) reacted to this change as well as raised other issues regarding the welfare of the engineers in the airline’s employment.
Mr Sam Ogbogor also said that the airline was giving what best in flight operations and maintenance as well as also maintaining the pool of required tools for the maintenance of aircrafts. Also determined to ensure that the conditions of service of its personnel are at the top in the industry. The grounding of flight operations of the airline became crucial because the sacked head of maintenance said the aircraft he was expected to release for operations was due for maintenance. The regulatory Agency had also been briefed on the issue.
